Marine survey & sample analysis
Marine survey & sample analysis
Marine survey design and implementation
We have been designing and conducting surveys, analysing samples and interpreting and reporting on data for over twenty five years. We have analysed samples from virtually all areas of the coastal waters of Britain and along the entire length of the tidal Thames; 60+ projects have included the London Eye, Millenium Dome, Millenium Bridge and Tate Modern.
With a network of modern, versatile craft at our disposal and a large team of marine biologists with appropriate licenses and training, we can act swiftly to meet client survey requirements. Our own grab gear and leading-edge sample recording technology enable us to collect and process samples efficiently and accurately.
We are proud to be part of the the Pollution Response in Emergencies: Marine Impact Assessment (Premiam) network. The Thomson Ecology marine division form part of the network of scientific and logistical partners to be mobilised to undertake monitoring activities in the event of a pollution incident. For more information about the project please visit www.premiam.org
Marine sample laboratory facilities
Our laboratories are well equipped to undertake all stages of infaunal analysis, from sample sieving and faunal extraction to species identification. We are able to process and store large numbers of samples from multiple surveys and we have excellent sample tracking and computer facilities, with a full suite of data handling and analytical software packages. Our Malvern mastersizer 2000 coupled with adherance to the NMBAQC best practice guidelines for particle size analysis ensure that we produce the highest resolution of consistent data for sediment particle size.
Reporting for marine licensing and biodiversity proposals
Whether surveys and data searches are driven by the need to meet licensing requirements or motivated by the opportunity to improve biodiversity and manage our ecosystems more effectively, our reports will specifically meet client needs.
